Shasta College Hospitality and Culinary Arts
Event Success
Local chefs, culinary arts students, and north state winemakers contributed to a seven-course dinner at the Riverview Country Club on Saturday, April 16, 2005. The dinner's mission was to raise funds for the upgrade of the culinary arts/hospitality facility at Shasta College that will meet the operational and curricular requirements of the American Culinary Federation. The dinner exceeded donation expectations with plans for a dinner next year. See Food and Wine Gala

New Fall Program
According to EDD Labor Market Information, the hospitality industry ranks in the top four employment categories in the tri-county area (EDD, 4/2004). The Wine Appreciation and Marketing Certificate ties the Horticulture and Culinary Arts programs together by bringing together winemaking, the business of winemaking, and grape growing. Shasta College will be implementing an on-site student operated vineyard similar to Alan Hancock College  (photo below)
