While Carifest and the Puerto Rican
festivals were making the news, particularly with the angle on the issue of
police presence, a small group of residents in Marketview Heights was enjoying a
peaceful afternoon of fun. No police present or needed.

One attendee commented that it would be nice if positive images such as these could be in the news in contrast with all the news about shootings and drugs. Another said it would be great if more activities like these could be provided for the kids. Of course, when she said that I was thinking wistfully of my plans to have a weekly summer story hour in what used to be my back yard.

My name is Georgia NeSmith. "Random Acts of Love" is my weblog, but I have numerous other websites you can link to through this blog. "Random Acts of Love" began in February, 2004, and I have been posting to it fairly steadily ever since, although there are a few months when illness and other issues have kept me away.
