More news linksStill no time to do any writing here. As
you can imagine, I am swamped -- between media and other calls, the work I do to
earn a living, having to run about getting all the paper work taken care of so I
can move as a Section 8 tenant to a new place...and I haven't even begun to
pack. But there's been more in the news about me.
In addition to the Democrat and Chronicle stories
(Feb. 6 and June 5) and editorial June 6, Fox national cable news reporter Todd
Connor came all the way out to Rochester for a story on me. Unfortunately,
although it is supposed to be on the web, I have not been able to find the
link.
More windows broken -- this time my car. Story here. BTW, if the story links don't work (as happens after a while), just send me an e-mail through the feedback link and I will send you a pdf copy. But in the meantime, WROC's Dave McKinley did a great piece -- available here. You can even watch and download the video. (Ditto re: link not working above.) I've been receiving tremendous support from the community. Have had several people honk at me -- including a UPS driver -- saying things like "Keep up the fight!" The dealers of course are mad as hell at me and have been trying to re-take the corner. They thought smashing my car window would make me run and hide. Boy, they just don't get it, do they? Much more to write about all their stepped up efforts to try to intimidate me. Later on that. It's all theater. Ninety percent of their power lies in our ability to imagine what they MIGHT do. So I'm not buying it. Unfortunately, because my landlady bought into the mythology they love to create, they are now trying even harder. I am confusing the hell out of them. They expect me to stay inside now and hide behind my curtains. Fat chance! As one of my former graduate faculty put it, "Georgia, you were always gutsy, but this story beats your Iowa days!" Thing is, I know the dealers are going to have a party when they see my U-Haul and everybody taking my furniture out.
