Double Dare Confrontation

Today they pushed things a lot farther, pretending to do a deal in a car parked directly behind mine while I was washing and cleaning it out with my kid pal "T". They are like children, always testing limits. Eventually they will understand that nothing they do scares me. And I'm not going away.

I was out washing and cleaning out my car this afternoon. "T", one of my kid buddies from across the street, came over to help me. While we were working, those (expletive deleted) creeps came over and were running a deal right behind my car on Kenilworth.

I pulled "T" behind me around back of the building and called 911. I had not gotten a good look at the car or the guys so I could not give a good description. "T" peeked around, but I did not want to put her in danger, so I sent her home.

I wasn't going to stand there in front of them (they weren't but 10 feet away from me) and describe them to the dispatcher. I told the dispatcher they were in a green car BEHIND my white Geo Prism.

Well, apparently the dispatcher mixed that up because the officer thought the deal was IN FRONT of my car. Sorry, but there WAS NO car IN FRONT of mine.

The officer drove up and the car went down the street. It even stopped down near Alexander.

I figured that since the car stopped, probably they were just trying to make it look like a deal. It was all street theater. They were just trying to show me who was boss of this corner. Otherwise, they wouldn't have hung around when I disappeared behind my building.

While I was talking to the officer in the car, one of the guys who was involved came down with his bike and started taunting me with "911. 911."

I looked up at him and said "I'm not afraid of you buddy." He rode off.

Anyway, I tried to explain to the officer what was going on, that I am in PAC-TAC, working with Brett Scheuer, & in contact with Commander Brunett. It was clear he knew nothing about me. He was also complaining because I didn't give enough information. Well, I'm sorry, but like I said, I'm not going to stand right in front of these people while I am calling 911. I DID tell him I understand you guys have a tough job to do.

This is a major communication problem. There needs to be more info out with all the patrol officers involved in this beat, as well as the dispatchers @ 911 what I am doing here.

There wasn't a safety issue involved...I am no longer scared of these people. However, there IS an effectiveness issue.

It was like I said at the Police Citizens Interaction Committee meeting April 11. We have a major problem with communications here. All the patrol officers need to be aware of the citizens who are working closely with the PD. It needs to be more than just the community policing officer.
