I Amaze Myself, Really I Do!

Made both Highland Park and Cobbs Hill today -- a week ahead of schedule.

Rolled out of bed in pain, as usual, this morning. Couldn't get myself moving in time to go to Quaker Meeting, which is my usual Sunday morning thing to do, at least during the school year. During the summer, Meeting is held at 10 a.m., and that is just too, too early for me to manage.

Still, by 1:30 p.m. I was ready to do my bike ride. Feeling a little on the down side. Not much energy. Pain ever-present. I really have to push myself to get on that bike when I feel like this. But I managed. As I got on I figured, I'll do Highland Park today, and then come on home. A "short" and at this point a relatively easy ride, but still with enough hill to get my blood pumping.

Then I got up to the reservoir and thought, oh hell, I'll just go ride down Highland Avenue toward Cobbs Hill, then go home. But by the time I got to Cobbs Hill I was ready to give it a try.

I couldn't believe it. That hill was easier today than it was yesterday. Rode a couple of laps around the top, then came on home.

An hour and a half.

So I already made my next week's goal of doing both hills.

As I was coming down the windy footpath at Highland I thought, now, that would be a real challenge, going up that. So I guess I'll make that next week's goal.

I'm tired now. A little sweatier than yesterday, but it was warmer and muggier today. Rather hazy. But still, good riding weather.
