Jim and Beibei's wedding in Santorini, GreeceOkay, maybe I jumped the gun a little about
traveling from destination to destination. Ann Hamilton
and I signed the lease for the studio back in August of 2005. We were
in the middle of our wedding season so construction had to be put on hold till
the winter of 2006. We were getting lots of inquires for wedding and filling our
last slots for the wedding season. The first perspective clients that we met at
the new studio were Beibei and Jim for a destination wedding in Greece.
So we thought what a great start for things to come. Beibei had emailed Ann I separately for the job. Ann replied and told her that we share a studio space in Cow Hollow, San Francisco. They actually lived a couple blocks away in the Marina. We hit it off right from the start. So needless to say they asked both of us to photograph the event. It was the first wedding we booked in the new space. It was a sign of many good things to come. ![]() May 2006. Here we are in Greece. Flew into Athens and took a small plane over to the island of Santorini. It was exactly as we had imagined. Dark lava cliffs with white buildings that cascade down. Cute B&B's, restaurants and shops everywhere. I have to say if you have never been to Greece, it really is a must see. So the wedding day is here and we are doing some getting ready shots of BeiBei in here room that over looks the cliffs and all of Santorini can be seen. The weather had been perfect for the past week. But, today it was different. I started to notice that a heavy fog started to roll over the hills and blanket the area. In the distance lighting and very loud thunderstorms. Within minutes it started to down poor. I grabbed the gear and looked back and the bride went dashing to the car. Ann and I seeked shelter under a olive tree which really didn't work. But, Beibei was safe in the mercedes and off we went to the ceremony site. We get there and everyone had moved the ceremony inside. The ceremony was to take place outside a winery overlooking the cliffs. Beibei and Jim decided that they had come all the way to Greece for the views and to be married with the fantastic views surrounding them. So the ceremony was delayed till everything was moved back outside. Rain continued right up to the start of the ceremony. It paid off, the most amazing sunset had broke away the clouds and Jim and Beibei were married. After the ceremony Jim shared that dramatic events seem to surround them at the most appropriate times. It was a perfect way for them to start a new life together and will always be a time to remember. And hey a great story to tell over drinks. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is a shot that beibei sent over of me working. This was before the wedding on a sunset cruise. The got really dressed up and drank wine during sunset. You can see Santorini in the background.
