Ann Hamilton's Dog portraits

Well, we have been in Doggie Heaven around here. Ann has been shooting so many sessions and the energy in the studio has been great. Check out this cute little guy. Her name is Maggie. A French bulldog with a smile to die for. I am not sure if any of you know this, but she was commissioned by Wag Hotels (A luxury Dog Hotel) to exhibit her work there, and other projects as well. The San Francisco hotel will be having it's grand opening at the end of the month, and Ann's amazing dog portraits will be gracing the walls throughout the store.

WPPI - 2007 16x20 print competition

Becky & Erika Burgin of the Art of Emotion have been long time friends and colleagues. Last year I was asked to photograph Erika's wedding. They loved the look of film and asked that the wedding be shot in this medium. The wedding images came out amazing. Becky was kind enough to grab the single image that seemed to get the most reaction. She sent the negative down to master printer, Mr. Robert Cavalli. She took the liberty of entering the print for me into this years WPPI print competition as a token of her appreciation. I am the one who is thankful here. I have some great friends in this industry who are very supportive of my photography. Here is the shot that is going to be entered. Keep your fingers crossed for me for a score of 80 or above.

Life Film

I was approached by Peilin Chou of Lifefilm, who was looking to create a new company website and polishing it up with wedding photography. I loved her concept and was honored to help out. Here is a little bit about the company and what they do.

Here is a screenshot of the website:

What is a Lifefilm? A stunning portrait. A cherished time capsule. An intimate keepsake of you.

A Lifefilm is a film that tells your life story. It is a personal documentary of you. Masterfully crafted, shot, and produced by professionals within the film and television industry, your story is presented with great sophistication and style. It is a celebration of the vibrancy, flavor, warmth and complexity that makes you who you are.

Lifefilm is the ultimate in self-expression. We invite you to take a journey with us, where we paint a living picture of your life. Where we create a work of art that showcases your individual flair and style. Where we feature all the people, events and things that are meaningful to you. Each Lifefilm is specifically designed and tailored to your unique story.

Lifefilm is the perfect centerpiece of any celebration. In addition to being a personal archive that celebrates your life, many clients choose to commission Lifefilms as entertainment centerpieces for their milestone life events. A Lifefilm is the perfect addition to the most exquisite Wedding, Birthday or Anniversary Party. On that special day, your guests will be swept away by the communal experience of watching your Lifefilm together. Your Lifefilm becomes the inevitable highlight of your event.

Give your loved ones the remarkable gift of a Lifefilm. When you need an exceptional gift that conveys that rare combination of thoughtfulness, creativity, gratitude, and love, nothing compares to a Lifefilm. What could be more moving and wonderful than surprising your parents on their Silver Wedding Anniversary with a Lifefilm that tells the story of their lives together? Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Graduations are also perfect events to lovingly present your son or daughter with their very own Lifefilm. Giving that special someone a Lifefilm expresses how much you truly cherish and treasure who they are. It tells them that you feel they are worthy of being celebrated!

Lifefilm lasts forever. Lasting way beyond the day of your celebration, a Lifefilm becomes a treasured family keepsake. Not only will it be viewed by you and your guests for years to come, it will also become a family heirloom that can be passed down to future generations. Imagine your great great grandchildren having the unbelievable treat of watching your Lifefilm and getting that amazing glimpse into their own family history. A

My favorite Vendors in Santa Cruz

Allison Weddings , Fiona Flowers and Just Cake have joined forces and open up a cute studio in Capitola. I was nice to get back down to the Santa Cruz and see some old friends. We all got to reconnect and check out the new space. They had two separate rooms. One was filled with cakes and the other was a meeting room. Great location near the ocean, felt very warm and cozy inside, and smart design. Congratulations girls. I loved the space and I wish you much success. THANKS FOR THE INVITATION.

This is my good buddy Danny. We go way back. Danny was my photography teacher back in the day and to this day is a mentor to me. He basically gave me my start. He has a home in Santa Cruz and Kauai, Hawaii. He does weddings, portraits and surfs in both locations. I admire what Danny has created in his life. Glad to call him my friend.

This is Ms. Marina of Just Cake . Check out those cool designs behind us. For those who don't know, Marina has been featured in tons of magazines and actually did Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's wedding cake.

Gina of Seascape Resort immediately approached me about being on her referral list. Of course, plus I have a good excuse to get back down to Santa Cruz.

Adrian and Shawn Cavlan. Adrian Cavlan is a co-founder and DJ of Sound in Motion. A real pro on the microphone and always gets my dance floors filled. Shawn Cavlan is a amazing make up artist. Nice team and good people.

Allison Van Every, is THE coordinator for South Bay weddings. From Pebble Beach, Carmel, and Santa Cruz. Her weddings rock. I have done weddings with her for years and they all are gorgeous and run perfectly.

Here are some details of the rooms.

Ever see a cup cake chandelier.
