sylvia and osomo's thank you
Email can be such a wonderful thing. Check this
out. It made my day.
Gene,
Gene, Gene!
You may not know this but,
you were booked from the moment we met you in Salamanca, Spain 2+ years ago!
Your style and energy captivated us immediately and we decided then and there
that you would be the photographer for our wedding, although we were not even
engaged at the time. We had not even seen the fantastic pictures of our great
friends', Alan & Amy, wedding.
In
Salamanca we told you that when the day came, we'd want you to be with us in
Jamaica (the original plan). For various reasons, we decided to have our
wedding at home, in New York instead. One of the risks in changing our minds
was the possibility of you turning us down. After all, by the time we got
engaged, you had become the "world-famous destination wedding photographer, Gene
Higa (with a star)", who was hitting countless countries a year and speaking at
major industry conferences. Also we considered that New York City probably does
not immediately come to mind when a destination wedding is pictured, so why
would a destination wedding photographer, who specializes in capturing weddings
in exotic and far away locations want to do a wedding in NYC? We have yellow
cabs and skyscrapers...hardly compare to exotic animals and ancient temples and
architecture.
Lucky for us, you
remembered our chat in Salamanca and were so happy to share our
day.
We can't describe how wonderfully
you captured our story and the best day of our lives. Every picture tells a
piece of the story. They capture everything from the private moments, jokes,
times that we were overcome with joy and could not stop giggling to candid
moments of laughter, crying, and impromptu toasts from our friends & family.
It's almost like you were everywhere at every moment, or as my mom likes to
remember you as "the paparazzi." Countless family members have commented on how
impressed they were with your level of commitment to capturing every moment of
our wedding day.
We especially love how
you captured the first time we saw each other that day. It was your spontaneity
that took us to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens after we had written it off
because of the rain. It was magical and for us it was as if we were alone
enjoying the cherry blossoms and each others company. You captured that on film
and we are forever grateful.
Our day
after shoot was even more spectacular in a different way. It was fun, glamorous
and exciting. We were running through the streets of NYC as if there were no
other people (or cars). Every picture captures the amazing energy of NYC, the
city that we love so much.
Everyone
who has seen the pictures is in awe, from more traditional people like parents
and older friends and family members to our less traditional and more modern
friends and family members. Some of comments that we have heard include "where
the hell did you find this guy", "I have never seen wedding photographs that
look like that", "he was lying flat on his belly (in the middle of a busy street
in NYC's Meatpacking District) to take a picture?", "that photo belongs in a
magazine", and our favorite "good luck choosing from all those magnificent
images". In general, our friends and family have never seen wedding
photography done in such a way and are blown away by how you were able to
capture artistic, creative and photo journalistic images that also shows the
love, energy and magic of our wedding day.
We can't thank you & the fabulous
Ann Hamilton enough. 4.27.07 is the best day of our lives thus far (4.28.07
– day after shoot is second best), and we are super thankful that you and
Ann Hamilton, two of the absolute best at what you do, were able to give us
moments that will forever be easily recalled because of the moments you captured
on film.
We are so pleased that we are
searching for reasons to have you and Ann back as there are so many spectacular
locations in NYC, the standard by which all cities are judged and hands down the
best and most happening city in the entire
universe!!!
Love,
Sylvia
& Osomo
PS - We swear this isn't a love letter.
There is just so much to thank you and Ann for, we didn't know how to make it
any shorter.
