I can't believe Opus is dying...

Berke Breathed I could understand. People die all the time. Take collateral damage. Puhleeze. But comic characters are not supposed to perish. I can think of dozens that have thus far outlived their creators.

On the other hand, there are just so many anxieties to pull out of the closet and after you've chowed down on even a few boatloads of herring, what's there to live for? Who needs the peace corps? I think we all drop out, sooner or later.

I suspect that Bill the Cat is behind all this. He never really understood Opus. In fact, I don't Bill ever understood anything beyond coughing up hairballs.

In recent weeks, I've noticed the Oregonadian has noticeably diminished the Sunday funnies while increasing the price of its less than informative rag. They even included an inflammatory advertising DVD last month that warned us, yet again, that many Muslims are terrorists. I suspect that most of good cartoonists have already left the funny pages.

What goes around circles the drain like bloody stool ejected from the ignorant assholes of average Americans. Berke Breathed is not an average American, and I expect I'll continue to hunt down whatever he's producing and give a view, just I as do with Dan O'Neill.
