I got a bargain on a MacBook a couple of months ago...

...but I rarely use it, except to reprogram the Logitech Harmony remote that starts sending random commands about once a month, and I synch a remanufactured Nano with it, but I've gradually moved to using the G5 for everything. Although I've never heard anything specific from either Apple or Hughes.net, the disconnects from iDisk have become less frequent, and I haven't received an NSURL error in weeks.

All in all, I grow less satisfied with technology the more I work with it. Apple still has the best user experience around, even using Intel chips, but the reliability of simplicity from the early Macs has been slowly eroded along the way. Things that I assumed should simply work by plugging them in and maybe running an installer now involve more troubleshooting to get them to work as advertised, if not as expected for hoped for.

As the problems with Hughes.net and Tiger pointed out, even Apple's own products aren't always compatible.

One of the pleasant surprises I've had recently is with the Nikon Coolpix S10, which, although I haven't fully figured out yet, continues to surpass my expectations. Yesterday, I took 91 photos with it and had room on the memory card for more than 500 more. The battery indicator says I don't need to recharge the battery, and the photos looked pretty good to me.
