The Gilchrist's of Scotland. Our first direct relative in the new world was Joseph Gilchrist, my GG Grandfather. He was born in 1796. The date of his arrival is uncertain but it was in the very early part of the 1800s.
Great Grandfather David Gilchrist. Born 16 May 1832 in Pennsylvania. Died 31 March 1920.
Enlisted in Co. B, 139th Regiment, PA Volunteer Infantry, Sixth Army Corps. Fought in principal battles, including Gettysburg. Wounded at Spottsylvania Court House, VA.
I have compiled a portion of our family history and hope to post it to my family web site (The Gilchrist Gathering) in the near future. Much of the information contained in that family history was compiled by Myrl C. Gilchrist. As the information contained in my work includes dates of birth, SS numbers and other personal information on living relatives it will be password protected and available to authorized individuals only.
