Fixing an Over Exposed 0r an Under Exposed Photograph with PhotoShop Elements 2.0 or 3.0 or CS


Step 1.  Using File/Open Load the picture into
PhotoShop Elements (This technique will work with ANY program that uses layers)

Step 2.
Toggle or select menu item
Layers/New Adjustment Layer/Levels...
(Actually you can use any Layer Adjustment)

Double Click on the thumbnail below to see a larger picture.

Step 3.  A new "Layer" dialogue box will appear. You can rename the layer, if you wish. Click on the Mode button with the left mouse button.

Step 4.  A list of modes will appear. choose or (highlight) Multiply if the picture is over exposed. Choose "screen" if the picture is Under Exposed. When you click on the "OK" button a new dialogue box will appear.

Step 5.  When the Levels Dialogue box opens Click on the "OK" button.

You can repeat this process if you think you need more processing

Okay there are a few more steps!

Step 6.  Don't forget to Flatten the Layers by using the menu item Layers/Flatten

and Don't forget to save the results in Tiff format.
