DIRECTORIAL EXPERIENCE:
Artistic Director                                                                               Caerphilly
As Artistic Director of one of Wales most successful professional national touring theatre companies I have spent twenty years touring high quality, innovative theatre productions in the UK, Ireland and France. The productions have been both indoors, in conventional theatre settings as well as outdoors in historic buildings including castles, abbeys and other monuments across the UK. Over the past twenty years the company has built up an audience of over 10,000 people per production. Among others, I have directed Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado About Nothing, The Tempest, Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, The Rover by Aprha Behn, Macbeth and A Midsummer Nights Dream.
The company has worked with some of the foremost writers in the UK including Ian Rowlands (The Sin Eaters), Greg Cullen, Edward Thomas (House Of America) and Boyd Clack (Satellite City) as well as actors such as Sir Anthony Hopkins (former patron of WAC), and Ian Hughes (of the RSC).

The Rover by Aphra Behn is a restoration comedy set in 17th Century Spain during carnival time. The play is about masks, mistaken identity, disguise and treachery.
Paul Garnault gets the best joke in the cameo of Don Pedro, but his main contribution came in adapting and directing this great romp. Western Mail
Four week, indoor tour of theatre spaces in Wales and England.
The use of CCTV and new media is the key brilliance to this modern production. The hells of the mind have been wrestled with for millennia but the salutary tale of Doctor Faustus is relevant to todays increasingly Godless society because we may never have been so alone in our own universes as we find ourselves today. Tremendously vibrant, witty and enjoyable (The Scotsman)
Paul Garnaults speaking of Shakespeare's text is a joy throughout, full of a confident, lilting sense of rhythm and meaning that reminds us just how rarely we see modern actors look absolutely at ease with the language of our greatest playwright.
