Grow grass from seed on a steep slope using Promat 70 to stop soil erosion |
TENAX Promat 70 is a polypropylene geo-mat comprising two layers of extruded and bi-oriented grids designed to protect and help establish rapid grass growth on slopes and embankments subject to surface erosion. Once installed the bi-dimensional structure of the geo-mat protects the layer of topsoil and anchors the roots of the grass to the soil matrix, thus helping to minimise both the effect of rain impact and soil migration due to surface runoff. |

Ground creation on steep slope if no topsoil is curently there |
The ground on slopes is often dry and rocky due to lack of organic material. Under these conditions, it is necessary for an adequate depth of soil to be provided to allow for growth of vegetation. Since topsoil has poor mechanical properties, it can easily slide down the slope and get washed away by heavy rainfall before vegetation has become established. TENAX Tenweb geo-cells are honeycomb shaped structures in heights ranging from 25 to 100mm. Manufactured by continuous extrusion of polyethylene without any welding, the structure expands and, therefore, can be stored and transported with minimal space. When opened up during installation, a series of completely interconnecting ovoid cells with diameters ranging from 100 to 300mm is created. Once expanded to its maximum extension and filled with lightly compacted soil or fine aggregate, a monolithic structure is created providing an effective means of confinement for unconsolidated materials within the cells and preventing their movement even on steep slopes. If required the area can then be seeded to maintain a ‘green’ environment. The junctions of Tenweb have a central opening through which water can permeate ensuring that organic material receives moisture for rapid growth. |

Game on a Lawn - Crown Darts |
This is a target game in which large darts are thrown underhand towards a similar target dart - called the ‘Mark’. The game can be played by two or more players. Teams of 7, 9 or 11 people are not unusual. In singles, each player has two or four darts of the same colour. In doubles, the players have two darts. Players toss a coin to decide the right to cast the ‘Lead Mark’ and deliver the first of their Crown Darts. The lead player must first set down his ‘Mat’ (delivery circle) on which one foot should be positioned by all players during the throwing action. After the Mark dart has been thrown, players take it in turn to lob their darts as near to it as possible. One point is awarded for every dart of the same player or team which is the nearer the Mark than any other opponent’s dart at the end of the leg. The lead is taken by the winning player of the previous leg. Most games go to 21 points, but they may be to 11, 13, 15 or 18. As a rule, a match consists of three games. A pitch can be any unoccupied ground which will allow the darts to stick, but will usually be grass or firm sand. The pitch is agreed among the players and is usually about 20 - 25 metres long and 6 metres wide. |
