TERM

DEFINITION

French Intensive Gardening

Maximum use of the soil by using raised beds, which are narrow enough (3 feet) to permit easy handling from either side. Prepare the soil by loosening to a depth of 12 inches and removing all weeds. Add compost or well-decomposed manure as well as any other organic pH modifiers, which a soil test may indicate to increase the surface and general fertility. Double dig.

French Intensive Gardening method is an ideal way to save space and to use companion planting effectively
