Rumwood Nurseries (and Royal Mires Nursery), Langley, Maidstone, Kent. ME17 3ND (Tel: 01622 861477, Email roses@rumwoodnurseries.co.uk. Web site www.rumwoodnurseries.co.uk) established in 1965 is the largest grower of roses in Kent.
Peter Beales Roses, London Road, Attleborough, Norfolk, England. NR17 1AY (Tel: 01953 454707. Email info@peterbealesroses.co.uk. Web site www.peterbealesroses.co.uk) established in 1975 grows over 1300 varieties of roses.
Coblands Nurseries:-
Coblands Nurseries were founded in 1963 growing a wide range of shrubs, herbaceous, grasses, ferns and trees in the ‘coblands’ of Kent. The production nursery extends over 120 acres on a number of sites in and around Tonbridge, growing approximately a million plants at any one time.

R. V. Roger Ltd, The Nurseries, Malton Road (A169), Pickering, North Yorkshire, YO18 7JW - Tel:(01751)472226 - Fax:(01751)476749 is a traditional third-generation family-run nursery, with the emphasis on plant quality and first-class customer service. The range of field-grown fruit trees grown is one of the best in the country, including many traditional varieties, which are becoming quite rare. They also grow over 40,000 roses in nearly 300 varieties. The rose field is usually in flower from the middle of July until the autumn, when you are welcome to visit and walk through the field. Besides shrubs and ornamental trees, R. V. Roger also produce four bulb catalogues throughout the year, offering choice for a plant or plants by mail order direct from the 280 acre nursery.

In order to compare Roses by their attributes (flower colour, foliage colour, form or shape, fruit or seed, or together with other plants), click on the appropriate attribute listed below the Site Map entry (the Comparison Pages are still under development, so some will have no photographic content and are therefore not listed in the Site Map). The text box below each thumbnail photo on each Comparison Page details the soil moisture, sun aspect, Rose height and Rose name.
I and Ivydene Horticultural Services are requesting the donation of the following colour photographs of plants for this section:-
- Flower - to show the shape and colour of the whole flower with the closed flower bud, open flower bud, juvenile flower, middle-aged flower and mature flower to show if the flower fades to a different colour.
- Foliage - to show the shape of the leaf and its colour. If its colour changes in the year, then a picture of each changed colour.
- Form - to show the natural shape/growth habit of the whole plant. If the plant is deciduous, then one with foliage and one without.
- Fruit - to show the shape and colour of the whole hip produced after it has flowered.
- Flower Bed - to show the overall effect of a group of roses together, preferably with the names of each of the roses displayed.
Each main photograph will be displayed in a 150 x 150 pixels graphic item. Each thumbnail photograph will be displayed in 50 x 50 pixels graphic item. Freeway allocates 72 pixels per inch. The photographs require to be in :-
- JPEG Format and can be sent via email (depress the email Chris Garnons-Williams item at the top of the Welcome page)
- 35mm slide to be scanned in (send to Chris Garnons-Williams at 1 Eastmoor Farm Cottages, Moor Street, Rainham, Kent, ME8 8QE England)
Please give the Latin name of the plant and your contact details (It would be preferable that it is either your website or email address rather than your phone number). These will then appear with the relevant photograph.

Why do so few Rose Plant nurseries who supply directly to garden owners in the UK and so few garden owners in the UK donate the use of their Rose Plant photos of the flower, foliage, form or seed to this website? Where else can you compare plants by flower colour, foliage colour, form or seed/fruit shape/colour with their soil type, soil moisture, sun aspect and height? . |
