Soil

Roses prefer acidic soil of pH 6.5 (sand) but will tolerate alkaline soils up to pH 7.5 (chalk). Mix 25 lts farmyard manure, or pulverized tree bark with bone meal, in soil before planting. Broadcast rose fertilizer in early Spring.

Tolerant of Poor Soils, so broadcast rose fertilizer in early summer as well.

Well-foliated but viciously thorny upright, bushy bush. Seldom produces hips.

Rather inclined to rust, especially after its first flush of flowers.

Good for Hedging. Grow in pots. Woodland and covert planting.
