1995 - 1997
Robyn Color Imaging CenterSan Francisco, CA
In 1995, Greg moved to San Francisco and took a position at Robyn Color. He strengthened his skills in the photographic and copywork trades. He took on new techniques like
type 'R' printing and became experienced on equipment like Mural enlargers and 11x14 cameras. This is where he started to learn about Macintosh computers. What had started out as a room with a small computer and a fiery printer had now formed into Robyn Color’s digital department. Like a lot of kids in his generation, he had spent his youth around the early computer models;
Tandy,
Apple and
PC writing simple software in Basic or Pascal. It was a big jump, going from writing batch files in DOS to learning Photoshop 3.0, but he took to it like a fish to water. He had always been technically inclined, and his photographic experience gave him an invaluable edge. He soon mastered the art of Drum Scanning and Film Output and steadily became an experienced RGB retoucher.
