Wool, the Magic Fiber!
These are some of my many fiber and jewelry projects, created with several techniques: felting, knitting, and crochet.

Feltmaking is an ancient textile art that predates spinning and weaving.
Gabriel and I made felted Easter eggs with wool & styrofoam forms.
Undyed merino fiber nuno felted to silk gauze creates a white on white texture.
My first attempt produced a scarf with a very "organic" quality.
Step 1: This is a needle felted bag ready for wet felting. Mohair locks embellish the front.
Step 1: Back view. Bag is thick and lofty...too soft for heavy use.
Step 2: Wet felting firms the wool, removing the air and locking the fibers.
Step 2: Wet felting adds durability & strength (back view).
Step 3: Shaped bag is air dried (front).
Back view. Ready for a closure and further embellishment.
Gracie's birthday present was formed with a felt needle punch (4 needles).
This is the finished purse after wet felting.
The back view shows the felt ball button & gold elastic loop closure.
Penni and I learned a lot about fiber placement with this scarf.
The merino wool fibers may be placed in any number of patterns.
The right scarf was made with a green merino & silk blend.
My artichoke plants love wearing nuno felt scarves!
Nuno felt scarves are lightweight, very drapable, and not too warm.
100% cashmere hats for spoiled rotten babies!
I like the top details. The hat on the right is my design.
Fine silver (99.9%) wire is crocheted with pearl and turquoise beads.
More knitted and crocheted silver wire jewelry. I can't stop!!!
My friend Susanne gave me this artichoke rubberstamp for my handcrafted gifts.
These earrings are one of my early knitted silver designs.
I gave these earrings to my mother-in-law Joan. She adores earrings!
Completed a few days ago: a cobweb felt scarf using merino with a touch of silk
Next came a layered cobweb scarf with 3 colors of merino and silk wisps.
Indigo blue merino blended with silk nuno felted on white silk gauze.
This scarf became a present to my mother for Mother's Day.
The plants in the garden don't seem to mind.
These models need to eat more!
I've been asked for close ups of the silver wire items. These are crocheted.
The necklace is knitted on a spool knitter. The tube is crocheted with pearls.
Another view of the tube necklace. The tube slider is removable.
This vessel is crocheted with pearls. It will become a necklace someday.
This necklace is braided from 3 strands of crocheted wire & assorted pearls.
The charm necklace is a long knitted chain, doubled. The charms are detachable.
