Re: [Rollei] OT: What can I say?

I used to have one of those as a kid. I did think of making straight
versions in fibreglass, but much larger- I think there would be a limited
market for them.

Jim's FF had a reference to the largest one found in this country- it's on
display in York, and had recently to be repaired having broken in three
parts.

I remember back in the 1970's a scientist who travelled round North Africa
photographing and measuring examples- they were much larger and better
shaped than European ones of that vintage. He was inspired by the work of an
earlier scientist who published a book of photographs of Irish ones.

As a result of that article I started home baking, but unfortunately misread
3 lb. per week as 3 lb. per day. The results were outstanding (sometimes
literally).

Reminds me of that joke about the fellow who took liver salts every day of
his life. When he died his relatives had to go to the cemetery and beat his
liver to death.

Do you have a search for that sort of thing set up in your eBay favourites,
or was it just a serendipitous discovery?

Terry
