To be a devils advocate it is a basic Phenidone developer not interestingly
different than HC110 or the other Ilford products available.
I only mention this because it is supposed to be Ilfords answer to Xtol
which they dredged up from some stuff they were only making available to big
pro processors. There is no "newer technology" involved. Certainly no major
development like ascorbic acid is now thought to be by a lot of folks.
Certainly me.
Not that it has to be superadditive with Phenidone as it is in Xtol.
I'm more excited about it with Metol/Elon.
In other words: a tab of vitamin C in your d76. Shaken not stirred.
And 1:2 not 1:1.
I used to do my d76 at 1:2 not one to one. As also did my friends in
college. Peer group pressure. But a lot more sharpness to make up for the
slight increase in grain.
Then I came to Portland and everyone I knew as using HC100 as the rumor was
out Ansel was.
