G4 ATA Disk size limit

One last question: Is there a limit to the size of the hardisk that
can be put into a quicksilver? I seem to recal that earlier machines
had a limit as to how large of a hard drive they could recognize.

Yes, the internal bus on all G4 Powermacs pre-Mirrored Drive Door
have a maximum of 128GB they can "see" on any IDE drive. Two ways of
getting around this: Intech's Speed Drive which is a replacement disk
driver to let the larger portions be used as an additional partition,
or get an IDE or SATA controller card and attach the drives to it.

This has the advantage of allowing a single large partition, and also
allows you to have faster disk access, since you would have an ATA
133 bus (IIRC, the QS drive bus is ATA100, though it may be ATA 133)
