Nick at King Tuts November 2004
Wow did Nick rock or what? Fecking excellent the
best show I've seen him play!
The
evening started with Beer Jacket (weird name) a guy I've not heard before. While
I was listening to him my daughter Mhairi poked me in the ribs and said "isn't
that Nick standing next to you?". I turned round and sure enough it was! BJ had
a good voice but needs to loose the rather staid pullover which didn't go with
his sound :-)
Martha Tilson <http://www.marthatilston.co.uk/>
followed immediately after Beer Jacket with an excellent set that the growing
crowd seemed to really enjoy. Nick came on just as I got back with some more
beer and so the fun started. To be honest my brain is pretty foggy on the exact
set list of songs but the usual culprits were there with high lights for me were
a rip roaring Karmageddon, Aeroplane, Guitar Man, Peace love and Happiness and
Out of it. There were a couple of string breaks but not mid song as usually
seems to happen so instead we were treated to a poem that Nick had come up with
while driving.Towards the end my
daughter and a guy at the front and centre were battling each other calling out
for their fav Nick songs. Nick by this time had picked up the twelve string and
was having to tune a couple of strings up so took the opportunity to tease both
of them with bits of both songs that they were calling for but I think he did
eventually play Shadowlands which was what Mhairi was shouting for. Gotta say my
daughter did have a ball what with singing along including the guitar parts
which Nick did notice so I hope she was in
tune!We hung on afterwards but the bar
staff got us all out by 12:15 Mhairi really wanted to get her CD and or the
guitar string envelope that she had grabbed from the stage autographed by Nick
so we waited outside the front door and even went round the back lane on the
advice of Paula but we somehow missed managed to miss him maybe better luck next
time. Thanks Nick for a stotter of an
evening.Graeme
