Route Sheets - Lighting


Head torches are OK, but I would like a permanent light shining on the
routesheet.


------ Some years ago I rode the night section of a 600 with someone
who had transcribed his route sheet on to a roll of paper which was
mounted on one of those devices with a double roller to enable him to
advance the instructions as he went along. What was really neat was
that the text was back-lit by stray light from his front fork
headlight. This enabled him to call out route instructions as we went
along. Later one of the riders in the group said to me, "How did
that guy manage to read his route sheet in the dark?".

It seems he had stumbled on this arrangement by chance, but perhaps
there is the germ of a good idea here, especially if you headlight is
bar-mounted. I'll leave you to work out the details :-)
