Nutrition for cyclists - talk by sports nutritionist Ruth McKean. Ruth will
explain how to fuel yourself for competitive events, including triathlon,
mtb and road. The talk will begin at 19:30 in the Royal Ettrick Hotel. I
think the club is asking for a small contribution to the costs of running
the talk but it should be well worthwhile.

Tue Apr 12 2005
Our regular social get-together at the Cambridge, Young Street. Meet for
food from 7:30, or just come along later for a pint or two. I'm planning to
make it - anyone else?

Wed Apr 13 2005
Glentress Night Ride, meet in the Hub car park from 6.30 for a 7pm roll-off.
Bring lights! (or hire them in advance from the Hub: 01721 721736) - the
nights are getting longer but it's still pretty dark in them there trees!

Sat Apr 16 2005
10am: Pentlands Leisure Ride meet at Colinton Road / Westgarth Ave junction
for the regular Saturday a.m. ride. Les is nominally the man in charge but
in case he isn't up to it, any volunteers to help out?
- Also GT Trailbuilding - look out for a message towards the end of the week
with more details.
- AND Scottish Downhill Association race: Ae Forest Sat and Sun.

Adopt-A-Roadie II - Judgement Day
The MTB section have volunteered to run a day of offroad riding at Glentress
Forest and try to pass on some of the skillz it takes to be ace on a
mountain bike. Would be good to get a lot of the regular MTB crew down there
and as many people as possible who have hankerings to ride the rough stuff.
Apparently roadies make very good pets - they are very tidy, their personal
hygiene is good and they don't eat much.
We'll meet ready to ride at The Hub at 11am (if you need to fill up on
caffeine and salted pigflesh in a bun then get there early), probably
heading up to the Skills Area and lark around there for a bit, then go for a
ride in the forest.
The emphasis is on having a fun day out and have a big "whole club" event.
There will be competitions with "quality" prizes (apart from the women's
categories where they will be, as tradition dictates, frankly quite
insulting) and probably some spot prizes too.
Bikes can be hired from The Hub but should be booked in advance -
www.thehubintherforest.co.uk or 01721 721736.
Obviously trackies and triathletes are welcome too, we went for a title that
was catchy rather than accurate.
