Here Is a crude sketch of how my tank is layed out. I am no artist as you will see. I just wanted to give a general idea of how my tank is set up. If you compare this to the top view photos and front view photos of my tank, you should get a vague idea of what I did. There is a picture with a key right below it.
The tank uses an undergravel filter with a power head. There is a clear vinyl hose attached to this that runs the water fall. There is a very thick layer of gravel over the filter plate that completely covers the power head and hose. The hose feeds to a natural hole in a piece of driftwood that creates the water fall. There is java moss growing all over the piece of drift wood. I use rocks, driftwood, gravel, and live plants for all my landscaping. The wood and rocks hold all my gravel in place. The gravel and plants make for a excellent filter. My water always sparkles. The gravel is piled up very high in back behind the wood. The wood is very twisted and has a high spot in the center. This provides many different levels for the toads.
