Welcome... THE RACE HAS BEGUN!!! CHECK THE TRAINING JOURNAL PAGE FOR RACE UPDATES!
Back in 1989 Sandy got the wild idea that she wanted to move to Alaska to race sled dogs. Her husband, Bill, thought that it was truly a crazy idea. It took her three years to convince him to move up north. So now they live in the Two Rivers community, outside of Fairbanks, with 30 of their “kids” living in the dog yard.
Sandy’s is employed as a medical technologist in the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital lab. When she isn't at work, she’s devoting every moment to her dogs.
Sandy began racing in 1996 in some of the races in the Two Rivers area. In 2001 she finished the Copper Basin 300 and the Denali 300. With these two races under her belt, she ran the 2002 Iditarod. She was doing quite well, but finally at Elim, just 125 miles from the finish, she and the dogs could go no further.
With three more years of experience and more veteran dogs, Sandy’s determined to take her team under the Burled Arch in 2005.
