Today Chip & Zoe visited the dog beach at
Huntington Beach CA. It was Chip & my first visit to a dog beach and it was
a great photo opportunity. Of course I had to take lots of pictures with my new
Digital Rebel camera. So I thought I'd make a video with some fun music. So here
it is enjoy!
Earthquake in California but we didn't feel a thing here in Anaheim CA
by Disneyland.
By listening to the news you would think that
every time there is an earthquake we all feel it. Well, that's just not true. If
the epicenter is right under us or not to far away then we can really feel the
jolt. Feels like your riding a wave. I woke out of bed with my heart pounding
very fast with the Whittier Quake but almost all of the others I hardly felt.
Like this one today. Worst case is that your in the shower when one starts! That
always worries me! Well, knock on wood that the big one doesn't
happen.
I remember one time I was
sitting in the dentist office waiting room by myself. I felt the earthshake. I
asked the very big nurse if she felt it and she said "no, it was probably me
just walking around". I looked down at the floor and it was concrete. Later when
I got home I heard the news say that there was an earthquake and I
laughed.
A song I'm going to write
someday, "You make the earth quake under my feet, oh when you dance, around me
mama!" he he
Hello and Welcome to all of you looking at my Ceramics Pages!
It seems that I have a very large amount of
people looking at my Ceramic pages which is great! But I'm curious how you found
out about my site. Could you drop me an email and let me know? Is it a search
engine? I'm just very curious since so many people from all over the world are
looking. Thanks.
At 3:30 AM in an attempt to
rescue a little Pomeranian dog (that sorta looks like hers only male) that was
staring down cars in the middle of a very busy intersection. Freida Wolden took
her dog and attached the lease and then used her dog as bait! Her dog (Pixel)
is in heat (she may be 12 years old but she has still got that twinkle in her
eye). Sure enough as she sat down on the front lawn the dog came out of the
middle of the street to have a good sniff. After a time the lost little dog came
right up next to Pixel and her. Freida decided to grab the little dogs collar.
Poor little thing was scared and since Freida did not think ahead she had no
lease to attach to it. The dog twisted and turned and pretty soon in the still
of the night. A SNAP! Then she released the dog and realized she had re-broken
her index finger on her right hand. That's the same finger she broke three days
before her wedding 38 years ago!
She is
now recuperating and will recover some day soon! Her wood turning career will be
put on
hold.
Update: Her
camera was delivered today, she will be using her middle finger to press the
shutter button! And maybe at the dog too! Which, by the way, at 8-am, took off
and ran home where the owner open the front door and welcomed him in after a
good nights sleep.
The moral of the
story, a broken finger is better than a splattered dog! I
think?

We spend the day at Knott's Berry farm taking
pictures. These rides really soak the kids. They come off the rides dripping
wet! Another fun day in Anaheim!
My name is Freida Wolden living in
Anaheim, California. Hello to all my family and friends! And you my long lost,
for 50 years now, newly found sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins
and etc. Wow, from growing up (I'm 56 years old now) as an only child to now
having lots of family is really fantastic. I plan on trying to recall and track
my life's adventure for you and me. It's been quite a ride and there's still
more to come!
...Thanks to my newly
found sisters & brothers Jerry, Judie, Julie, Mary, Marie, and others I
haven't met yet, and who I haven't seen for 50 years, I now have some pictures
of my early days.
...Wolden Multimedia
Institute, a school I started around 1990 and ended in 2002 was a dream I had
and was able to fulfill. The ending wasn't what I had planned but the school
achieved many awards and most important, was a positive impact on many
lives.
...All my family and all my
friends, past students and I want you to know that "I Believe In
You!"
...Any stories about you, me or
us I hope you share.
Gene asked me, so what do you want to do for your
birthday, go to dinner, a movie, down to the beach. I answered back, hmmm, how
about going to Harbor Freight, Woodcraft, and the Art Supply Warehouse. He
moaned a little and then off we went. We brought the camera's and took pictures
of the day! We ended up at the beach on the pier, then off to Mimi's to eat.
Okay, so I know the shoe's and the white legs stand out but I believe in comfort
and now that I am 57 years old, I don't really give a damn if you like my white
legs and ugly shoes or not! he he I'm an ordinary girl trying to make my way in
this old world!
Okay so Saturday I start my Woodturning Class at Cerritos College!
It's exciting to learn new things! Segmented
Bowls making is what I'll be learning this time. So what is a segmented bowl?
Look at this site:
http://gavinsbowls.tripod.com/gallery1.html
Although
this week I have been searching the web for info on segmented bowls and all of a
sudden I discover this could involve a lot of math! Oh my gosh! I think I'm in
trouble! Well, I have the best teacher on the subject. I'll try to video the
process and if I survive the math I'll even post my masterpieces, he
he!
An Entrepreneurs Life! Here's a video produced at Wolden Multimedia
Institute in 2000
Well, looks like I lost all that I have written
so far about WOLDEN so I'll start again. Here's a video that was created for the
Anaheim Arts Council's yearly event to raise money. I love the little girl.
Doesn't she have beautiful big eyes! She was just starting out and she made us
all cry! We had some real talent at WOLDEN and I really enjoy looking back at
the masterpieces we created together. Look for more to
come.
Our dogs have a new cool bath area! check this out!

July
9th was our anniversary! Ahhhh How time flys! We were about to take a bus to Las
Vegas to get married when I broke my finger on a kitchen chair. My hand and
fingers were so swollen and I was smiling but about ready to pass out!! It was
an omen I think! hehe Well it worked out okay cause we have been together for 38
years despite his old age! hehe Gene is 18 years older than me.
What a great day this was! Gene and I still
smiling in our old age! We are soul mates forever!
It's
hard to believe that so much time has passed. So many good memories that out
weight the bad. Lots of give and take and plenty of forgiveness is what keeps us
together. I'm so lucky to have been loved by him! Geez, I just made myself
cry!
Gene and I had such a great day Saturday. James
(our son) called us up and took us to lunch and a movie in Downtown Disney. This
is a great area out behind Disneyland that is really fun. We went to see the
movie Troy. It was a good movie, lots of cutting action and ankle bleeding! The
special effects were good but there is this one scene that I saw 4 repeats of
the same chariot! Afterwards we strolled around the shops. My favorite is an
contemporary art store that is full of unique art pieces. Gene had such a good
time kidding around with Jim. It felt really good. I love watching both of them
laugh! I'm very proud of our son. It was the best day I've had for a long
time!
Happy Mothers Day to all my friends who have
experienced the the wonderful gift of motherhood. When I visit my friend Hilda's
house I experience a flashback of early 1970's when our kids were little. She
has two boys 2 and 5. It warms my heart at her house. I remember the laughter
and craziness of motherhood when I'm
there.
I have never before or since

I thought I'd share these sweet words with you
all written by my sad friend Mikki back in
Davenport.
Dear Family &
Friends, Just a note to let you know our much
loved big dog Buddy had a stroke sometime between 3am and 7am this morning. We
had to put him to sleep so he wouldn't suffer. He enriched our lives for 13.5
years.
Here are two ceramic Bugles and One ceramic
Didgeridoo I just finished making. They both sound great! Click on Ocarina's and
Flutes &Ceramics in the left hand column to see other ceramic masterpieces
(hehe) of
mine.
Just turned a bowl I turned in my Wood Turning Class!
What a thrill it is to use wood that would have
ended up in a dump somewhere and turn it into a piece of art. Let me share with
you the excitment of creating things out of wood. The pleasure can be found at a
local community college and in my case one Sunday afternoon a week. I love
learning but this is so much fun! And what's wrong with having fun in your life.
I always said do like the book, "Do What You Love and the Money Will Follow".
So I don't see the money yet, but I do love it anyway! And everything is not
about money!
So did you know that
turning wood is easy! A lathe is used to spin the wood around and a group of
gouges, 7 to 10, are used to cut into the wood making shapes like spindles and
bowls and cups and on and on. Type in wood turning in your search engine and
see all the examples around the world. Beautiful pieces all inlayed and cut in
ways I can't figure out yet! I'll try and put up pictures of my masterpieces
(intro to wood turning class masterpieces) tomorrow. Look back in this message
in a few days.
My problem is I love
working with wood and ceramics! Ahhh What a wonderful
problem!
I sure learned a lot of info on the Mac Discussion Board
I'm gonna tell you that even after owning a
Multimedia Institute for 15 years and being in the computer training business
since 1978 the simplest questions arise and make you feel like a fool! That is
because the same problem exists, people don't read the books or instructions.
(RTFM) Everyone expects instant knowledge without going through the time to
figure out the answer. Then writing it down so when you have that problem (and
you will) again you can look up the answers. Including me!
So if you have a Macintosh and want
answers to your questions from some very smart people go to this web
address:
and
see the treaded message that I left and really cool people help me figure out.
Then browse around a while and remember this place or if you have a PC find a
similar place to ask questions. It's free and you almost always find
answers!
Gene and I took our artwork and displayed it at a
local art show. How fun to be creating and selling your own artwork! Life is
good and only getting better! Take a look at our display. Everybody loved Gene's
work and he had a good time joking with people and seeing them laugh. There's
only one problem. I'm afraid he going to sell something and I have grown
accustomed to their faces. Thanks Vickie for taking the
pictures!
Started a Life Sculpture and Handbuilding Class This Week
What a blast! The class I'm taking at Cerritos
College, Life Sculpture, teaches modeling clay from a Live Model. Our first
young man is a little over weight and has long black hair. We sit at a table
with wheels and all move around the model every half hour or
so. READ MORE........
Tonight, I am depressed! I ran over and killed a little dog today!
It was one year ago January 9th, 2003, that
the terrible forceful winds blew our fence down in the middle of the night. Our
little white Maltese dog went out over the downed fence from the backyard and
disappeared into the night. In the morning when we discovered what happened we
went into a frenzy to try to find her. She was around 10 or 11 years old and
probably really scared. Up and down the streets! Over to the dog pound. Signs
everywhere! Panic that she was hit by a car since we live on a busy street
corner. A look in the sewer hole in the street! A walk up and down the railroad
tracks. Back to the pound at 4pm everyday to see if she was brought in by one of
the trucks. This went on for a
month.
After spending a lot of time
a the dog pound we realized she was gone from us. She was so white and cute and
sweet.
Isn't it life good! I wish you lots of hugs,
warm soup and hot tea, dog and cat kisses, smiles towards a stranger moments,
but most of all I wish you would not be mad at your mother for one day or at
least for one moment. It's seems acceptable and natural for one to be upset at
their mother. But wouldn't it be nice, just for a moment to reach out and take a
risk. Just be a little kid for a minute and remember a good smile and hug from
your mom. Just one moment, that's all a mother asks for!
Remember, "It's not about who loves
you, it's about, who you love".
More Pictures of Little Freida (Frieda), Thanks Judie
What a Great Christmas Present to get to
discover old pictures of me I've never seen before with people who loved me very
much. But I was to young to remember!
