The next victory of the Luigi pair was expected. But at the start, Graham in the Wisell Camaro took the lead and stayed in front for a while. Alas, the Camaro had to retire soon with ignition troubles. That left the Luigi cars in front of Poole's Escort, who was followed by the Faltz-2002 of Rummel.

John Markey entertained the spectators with a lot of noise before they had to stop; the Zakspeed Escort was brought in by Finotto, who complained of a slipping clutch. It turned out to be a broken crankshaft indeed, forcing the Escort into its fourth successive retirement. Further down the field, the Mohr-Scirocco collided after a lot of mechanical problems and pit stops with the Abt-Audi: a DNF for both. The Leinberger-Fiat 128, by far the fastest car of its class once again, stopped after an engine failure, leaving the class to Alfa Romeo. The double victory of Luigi was a matter of time; the McMahon Escort finally won its class.
