Group 1 under 1300 cc
For the first time since 3 months, the Simca brigade was ready for another fight. Slotemaker himself was entered, “too see how much faster all those illegal cars are”. Van Dongen, throws out of Slotemaker’s team, drove a Datsun 120A which was not as fast as the Simca but made loud transmission noises to compensate. Slotemaker qualified 8th, Lammers only 11th. Both were left behind in the race, which Hutzezon won.

Group 1 over 1300 cc
The last race of the day was another battle between Slotemaker and Frankenhout. Frankenhout had the better start, and Slotemaker was even beaten by two Alfas when the flag dropped. But the anti skid instructor soon came on steam, though his brakes were nor good enough to challenge Frankenhout - and his last chance, the slipstream to the line came to nothing since he started his manoeuvre too late. The other classes were won by Rosman and Houthuyzen, both in Alfa Romeo’s.

Group 2 and 4
Vermeulen was the fastest man in qualifying in his repaired BMW, beating Kluit with over a second in hand. But Huub’s bad luck continued once again: a puncture a few laps from the end meant reduced speed initially, and when the tyre came off on the straight Huub continued in a way Gilles Villeneuve would copy four years later. When he came into the pits with damaged front suspension he could not believe his bad luck - though a pit stop would have been a better idea after all.
Deen finally had a compatriot with comparable speed - all the way from Finland came Urpiala. A real fight until Deen’s rear wheel collapsed. To put things into perspective, the Fin lapped at least 6 seconds over an optimal time here, only one second per lap faster than 1300 cc winner Tjan. The race was watched by some Japanese Datsun technicians, who must have been happy with the result, since the second placed Coronel was entered by the importer as well.
The 1150 class was won by Loek Vermeulen, the 1000 cc win was for Kok, where de Jong proved very competitive, matching Kok’s speed now.
