This touring car race was the support act for the Formula 2 Eifelrennen - it was held as the last race of the day. Glemser had been fastest in practice, but accelerated a little too early and got a 1-minute penalty. He would have won anyway, but after lap 3 he retired. Huber in the BMW coupé had to make a pit stop, but in any case Stuck with the Alpina 2002 was faster and duly won the race, in front of Huber and Kranefuss in the Escort TC - the latter finishing that high since nearly all the 2-litre cars retired.
