The support act for the Formula 2 race received little attention in the home press, apart from the terrific fight between Ertl (Alfa) and Obermoser (BMW). Ertl had been fastest in practice and set off into the lead, followed at some distance by Obermoser - who closed in lap after lap. In lap 9, he passed Ertl, but was repassed again by the Austrian at the entrance of the second chicane. Ertl overshot his braking in the Sachs curve, so Obermoser went by again, using all the road and a little green too. He managed to keep his lead to the finish, where Hähn entered a protest (“unfair driving”) to the dismay of Ertl, who was known for some forceful driving in F Vee in the past as well... |
