The sixth round of the RAC Saloon Car Championship was sponsored by Wipac and provided a welcome change in the results list as Brian Muir took the beautiful Malcolm Gartlan/Wiggins Teape Camaro to a long awaited outright victory: he led right from the start but Gardner (Boss Mustang) did find a way past in the early stages, only to have a front tyre deflate completely while shooting through Woodcote. The Mustang driver commented afterwards that he thought he was "going to turn it into a monument!" Bill McGovern now shares the championship after tri-wheeling to another excellent class victory in the Bevan Sunbeam Imp. |
