Division 1 was a three-way battle between the Abarths of Goedemans and Hezemans and the Broadspeed Anglia of Fitzpatrick. The Abarths were in the lead at first, then after 4 laps Fitzpatrick passed Hezemans which was not part of the SRT script at all. But Hezemans fought back, and when Fitz missed his breaking point at the chicane, the Dutch double victory was secured. The 850 class was won by yet another Dutchman: Swart with his brand new group 5 Abarth.

The debut of the Alan Mann Escort Twin Cam, freshly homologated on May 1, was a success; Gardner took pole and won the race, in front of his team-mate Attwood in the old Cortina. The Escort was on carburettors (160 HP); the fuel-injected engine (180 HP) was not yet reliable - and not needed anyway...
The works Coopers (with fuel injection...) of Rhodes and Neal were split at the finish by Oskamp in his somewhat simpler but brand new car, taking advantage of a pit stop by Neal.
