This is my iPod U2 Photo Mod (aka Alk3 iPod). When buying a U2 Face make sure you get one with a working click wheel and has been tested. I didn't use the U2 back plate because there wouldn't be enough room for all the parts. These pictures were taken in reveres order so I already have the U2 face plate on it.

First off there are two screw holes that you need to dremel down so that the screen will set right.

Make sure you put the dremel on a slow speed so you wont melt the plastic.

I used a two guitar picks that I stole from my friend chino. Just pry around the top and work your way around. Once everything is popped open slowly pull the metal casing to the right. Make sure not to rip this ribbon cable.

The flat wire is folded over and glued together. So it's REALLY easy to rip. Next take the smallest precision flat head screwdriver and take the connections apart.

There is no need to disconnect the battery or the hard drive. Just unscrew all the torx screws. There are six in all, one hidden under this black tape under the hard drive.

The battery is glued on to the face so just take the flat head screw driver and slowly pop it off. Make sure not to pull the logic board completely off because there is still a flat ribbon cable that is connected to the click wheel.

Pull the ribbon cable apart from the logic board and not the click wheel.

Now just do all the steps in reverse with the U2 face plate. Make sure all the connections and ribbon cables are secure and when closing the case don't pinch and wires. Photo Gallery
