Timekeepers have played an important role in all of our daily lives. None are more beautiful and fascinating than the American Pocketwatch.
Sadly, today, all of the great American watchmaking factories are gone. The art and science of horology is being lost as the last generation of watchmakers grows older. Without their knowledge, the intricate mechanics of these miniature machines will be but a mystery to future generations.
A new generation of watchmakers is emerging through organizations such as The American Watchmaker and Clockmaker Institute (AWCI) and The National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC). The NAWCC has a great Message Board with a ton of info.
The movements that are on the pages of this site are those that have come my way either for repairs, or to find a home in my collection. Enjoy them, and if they pique your curiosity, follow the links below to organizations that can assist you in your quest for a fascinating hobby.
