Fashion's brightest names were honored...

Tom Ford.  Tommy Hilfiger.  Ralph Lauren... and Hush Puppies.

It was a little like Cinderella at the ball.  The CFDA Awards are the fashion industry's brightest evening.  And Hush Puppies walked away with the Accessories Award for the Classics launch.

Ingrid Sischy, writing in the awards program said, "I wonder if any of us knew we were part of a trend?... This is when fashion gets really interesting, when it happens almost naturally.  I call it 'doing the mashed potato.'  That is, rediscovering something that feels deliciously familiar and, yet, is also just what one hungers for in the present... Those people at Hush Puppies are clever cooks."

It was a fairy tale night.  Jeff and Owen Baxter created special suede and patent leather tuxedo shoes to wear to the event.  When party-goers took note, Hush Puppies added them to the line, eventually selling 30,000 pairs.

The next morning, Academy Award nominations were announced.  Packing in the hotel, Jeff called the PR agency and began plans to make Hush Puppies tuxedo shoes for the Best Actors list.
