Can Mom's be wrong?
The October 21th issue of World's World had a 2
page spread on reflexology. I was mentioned throughout. It was uncomfortable
because of the slant of the article. The cover read "Cure Stress with a Golf
Ball. Easy Miracle Massage Trick.". The inner article was equally sensational. I
was quote as telling the reader to massage this and that and miracles would
happen.
For one thing I never use the
term "massage" in describing reflexology. I feel we are much closer to
acupressure. I apply pressure and I don't massage things. For another thing they
interviewed me about research in depth.
The questions about techniques were
only at the end. I should have know that most of the research would be
jettisoned in favor of a quick and easy fix guide. Oh well.
Barbara's mother and my mother loved
it. They went out and bought extra copies. My cousin was so impressed she sent
flowers.
Ahh the media. They hear what
they want to hear.
