EARLY
FINDINGS
If we are talking about the presence and depth of
integrative learning in the University Studies program,
we need to be looking for evidence that such learning
is taking place and to what depth. Two current efforts
stem from questions about the program and from a
Presidential initiative aimed at internationalizing the
curriculum. We carried out two surveys to look at those
questions, one on what the students would say about
their experience in the upper division clusters and
another on what faculty would say they are doing
currently in the classroom that might fall into the
category of internationalization. Both surveys took
place during 2004-2005. Survey findings show that
faculty do see activities and materials they are
already using as addressing internationalization in
ways that one would suggest. Also, the majority of
students who responded to the Clusters Survey cited
that University Studies learning goals were indeed
being addressed.
