As these data indicate, there is a dramatic
shift in the disciplinary origin of courses
that comprise the upper division cluster
courses of University Studies. The social
sciences come to predominate by 2004, reducing
the occasion for integrative learning that
places those social sciences (as well as the
humanities and fine arts) in proximity to
methods and questions arising in the natural
sciences.
