Summary
This one is better than his recent Bush bashing extravaganza, but Moore still fails to solidify the message here. He blanketly compares the USA to Canada and several other countries in terms of gun murders. He never comes right out and blames gun violence on guns, or the media, or anything else for that matter. It is typical liberal propaganda: ask questions for which you have no answer, demonize some rednecks, some white people, talk about slavery(???), and throw in a hefty dose of guilt, and answer your own question with a bunch of "maybe it was this," or "perhaps it was this..."
A few years ago my friend and I drove from Baltimore, MD to Littleton, CO and visisted the Columbine community and the high school. It was interesting to talk to people out there about what had happened. I think the best part of this documentary is the interview with Marilyn Manson, who by the way is rumored to be a political conservative. Manson points out the two ironic media attacks that the Columbine High School shooting brought about: going after rock music and guns. Two things which despite Moore's deepest wishes, are simply not to blame for the crime. Or any other crime for that matter.
I gained a new respect for Moore after watching this film. He makes some valuable points about how way mass fear has alienated people from each other and from the government in this country. The sad thing he doesn't realize is that the liberal ideology which he professes, along with the entitlement mentality, is perhaps most responsible for this societal madness that we have seen in recent years.
