Summary
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a timeless tale and really has something for everyone. You have it all here, amateur photography with an ancient polaroid, a crash course in Slaughter House 101, how not to pee on the side of the road in a wheelchair, and where not to look for a swimming hole.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a small budget film that exceeded everyone's expectations and made a household name out of the character 'Leatherface'. He is the true original, before Jason, Michael, and Freddy, you had a maniac that wore a mask of human skin and a bloody apron.
Five teenagers falling victim to a cannabilistic family can make for good entertainment when you consider the story as a whole and not just the murdering rampages. I find it interesting that so many side stories abound in this movie.
The handicapped dude and his pocketknife for instance. Where did he get the knife? Why was he so attached to it? What deep or spiritual meaning did it have? The dude with the 'fro and the glasses? What was his deal? A fashion designer with no fashion sense? I mean look at those clothes he's wearing for heaven's sakes.
The extra features in this film are awesome, espescially the cut scenes. Watching Leatherface applying lipstick and mascara is a hoot and should have remained in the original film.
This is a true piece of All-American cinema and if you haven't seen it yet, what the heck are you waiting for?
