Black Cat Hill
Half way up the hill was my secondary school,
Liceo Luis EspelozĂn. it is, for all I know, still up there, a white
building with lots of glass windows and airy yards with fruit trees (which
probably had to be hewn down when one government or other decided fruit trees
were dangerous in schools). There was the 'panaderĂa', the bakers at the
corner where one could have a coffee and a 'cachito', which wasn't a croissant
but had the same shape but savoury, with a filling of spicy
ham.
But I have no memory of what those
people looked like. I have a very vivid memory of Belkis in a fluffy white
fleece jumper, with long wavy hair, with a pony tail, with a broader face with
spots as years wore on,
