Third Division Construction Under Way
Many things happening at once. I realized that I had to start some scenery work as third division construction would limit my ability to work in some areas. Scenery is being worked on from the middle out and from the edges in. I have also decided, with considerable trepidation, to ballast the tracks. I am using Brennen's ballast. A more expensive choice than the chicken grit favored by some, but i am comfortable with the look and the fact that I don't have to wash it. While my glue/water mix does have some brown paint mixed in, I am not going the full weathering route. These pictures show some of the ballasting in place. The ballast has not yet been vacuumed to remove excess material.

The third division, which will operate exclusively on the upper level, is, as yet, unnamed. Potential choices are Southern, Sante Fe, or Atlantic Coast.

Two level passenger station at right with the UP (middle track) splitting to return to the lower level and ascend to meet the third division.
Full station shot. Scenery behind Backshop nearly finished.
Curved bridges from Bridge Solutions bring two branches of the third division to Union Station. This shot shows one of those branches and the "Shale Canyon Plunge" that joins the third division to the FEC's upper level. Thank the technology gods for speed control!
More station views from the other side showing the other curved bridge. The last thing I will do is put "water" in the pond.
