Venue Description:

"To my horror, I spied "The Roadhouse" (the club) out of the corner of my eye and my first thoughts were, 'You've gotta be fuckin kidding me.' It looked like it should have been called 'The Outhouse' or 'The Chicken Shack.' The outside of this place was a sad sight to behold. It was basically an old, rundown looking dump in the middle of nowhere out in the boonies of Sacramento (not downtown), in a sort of industrial looking poor white trash area. It looked like the roof was only about ten feet off the ground and like you'd have to crouch down once you got inside. The Roadhouse sign was delapidated and looked like it hadn't been painted in 30 years. There were lots of open fields of nothing, a lone gas station, a lot of big rigs parked along the side of the road, and a little pizza place/restaurant...."

"The interior of this place wasn't much better than the outside. It just looked like the inside of a chicken shack. The ceiling was so low you could almost reach up and touch it. The stage wasn't too bad, and they had most of the equipment set up by that time. There was a large pool table, five or six tables, and looked like it held about 300 people tops. Pretty sorry I thought for a great established band to have to play in. God, I wonder how they got booked at this dump, it was just shocking to see."

"as for the venue-- let's not come down too hard on the place. it doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside was clean and had a bit of charactor and the people who worked there could not have been any nicer. the ceiling was the one thing about the place that jumped out at me.... it was black and very low. give the owners of the place credit for booking the band. they seem to be in league with a radio station that just changed it's format from hard rock to alternative-- 97.3 fm. general public is the next concert booked there. i will go back."
