Dulverton by Starlight

A stormy day didn't stop us getting to the annual Dulverton by Starlight event on 2nd December

The Wiveliscombe band wisely shelter below the town hall
The hand-bell ringers stayed in the dry, too
But the beautiful suffolk punches had to stay out in the wet.
But for anyone with colds, the morris men had plenty of hankies!
It looked like the start of an odd game of hockey.
Damned quick that accordian player ...
The morris men took evasive action to avoid the horse dung...
Rather a well-turned out bunch, these morris men...
Although they could be mistaken for well-armed rugby players.
A rather damp round of carols preceded the main event ...
The fireworks!
They bravely allowed them to be set off around the church -
- to an enthralled onlooker.
It was quite a spectacular show..
... full of sound and fury... hard to catch in a picture..
Some of the fireworks were positively blazing...
... But this looked like something out of Edgar Allen Poe.
It all built up ...
... to the big finish..
... lighting up the town.
