Wellington Carnival 2007

A wet autumn evening didn't manage to dampen the spirits of (most of) those taking part in this year's carnival...

There was a bit of a hallowe'en vibe at the start...
... although the ghouls were quite lively.
Well, most of them, anyway.
A more traditional theme in the form of a Panto tableaux..
.. it was handsomely turned out.
I wonder if he ever finished that letter?
Majorettes did their best to keep smiling, in poor conditions...
...and fortunately his lightbulbs didn't short out!
Another ghostly - but well-lit - float.
They all looked slightly eerie looming up through the rain.
This boy looked rather forlorn, sat on his broomstick...
...but the pirates were in their stormy element...
...although I'm not sure anyone would want to drink at their bar!
This was one of the most spectacular floats...
... but it needed a mammoth generator to keep this lot alight!
This dragon managed to see the funny side of getting drenched ...
... even more than the clown.
The Milky Bar Kid lives!
And the origins of teenage drinking became clear ....
Trying to inject a South American feel into proceedings...
... and it was a colourful display...
... although under pressure from the elements.
A little showbiz magic...
... and these kids threw themselves into it with spirit...
... although not as much spirit as the Disco Mania float!
This lot were really going for it ...
... in full disco and glam-rock gear.
It can't be easy strutting your stuff while being soaked.
This girl was giving it her all...
... living that 70's moment...
... and enjoying her time in the limelight.
