Finally - Summer!

We finally had a few days of proper sunshine, after a long wet - WET - summer. I had to make the most of the opportunity, so headed for the hills ...

Dartmoor seen clear as a bell from Anstey Common
A red deer stag in velvet, with a pair of hinds
The ephemeral beauty of grass flowers in the evening sun
A hind and calf. The calf still has its baby spots
Sunset on Molland Common
The road down the side of Dunkery, heading towards Porlock
A dark green fritillary (that's its name. I am not colour blind.)
By jiminy - a cricket!
A reasonably co- operative grayling
A wind farm in Wales, viewed from Selworthy Common
Another view of Wales, across the Bristol Channel.
Parasitic dodder growing on the gorse.
A resident of one of the funnel webs in the gorse.
... And there is Wales again...
A painted lady - underside...
... and topside
A kind of stitchwort. Tiny, but tough!
Haymaking has been in full swing near Porlock
Farming creates a wonderful patchwork.
A small copper (and I don't mean a tiny policeman ...)
The underside of a tiny policeman... I mean small copper.
Another cricket...
Turning the hay.
