Random notes as we prepare to jet to Texas for an One Night Stand with Dale Jr. this evening. This one has a twist - and we will have a full assortment of photos from the One Night Stand and full coverage of Friday's Budweiser news conference sometime tomorrow afternoon.
While I'm sure fans enjoy seeing and hearing of news conferences to reveal special paint schemes to promote a new chewing gum or movie or cartoon, I take pride that Budweiser is doing something meaningful for people who need and deserve it. We'll have the details here. |
Is there anyone left who refuses to believe this is the most incompetent administration in American history? "WOOPS! We did it again!" - as the administration claims to have 'lost" key emails in the US Attorney scandal. And now the prez is looking for someone to become "War Czar?!" (Sigh.) I guess he's tired of screwing it up himself, and word is no one seems willing to take the job. I imagine this position will be equally as inept as the previous "Homeland Security Czar" and the "Drug War Czar."
However, the saddest and most distressing announcement of the week is the extended deployment of Army personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now, instead of a 12-month tour of duty, they will be required to serve 15 months. And, their treatment is no better once they return home. No matter your views on the war, it has always been an American value to take care of those who risk their lives to protect us - and this value has sadly disappeared - along with many of our civil liberties. |
Well-done to MSNBC for dropping the odious Imus after his racist and misogynistic comments. (Which was merely his latest misstep in decades of awful comments.) Perhaps this will put more of a spotlight on others who spout intolerance on the airwaves. Hello... Rush Limbaugh? Bill O'Reilly? Michael Savage? Glenn Beck? Perhaps the time has finally come to hold these windbags accountable for the bile they spew about anyone who doesn't share their skin tone, gender or religious beliefs.
P.S.: Vote for Sanjaya! |
