VOTE November 7

November 7. Vote.

You have two weeks left to learn all you can to make an informed decision. Read all you can about your local congress member and decide if they deserve to stay in what Rolling Stone has called "the worst Congress ever." The subhead says it all: "a stable of thieves and perverts."

This is a Senate and House that has backed every evil and damaging proposal set forth by the administration, including the recent death of Habeus Corpus. In a law that sets back common law principles exercised as an essential part of democracies for 500 years, the new regulations gives the king - sorry, I mean the prez- the power to jail and torture any citizen indefinitely without charges or representation. This is beyond evil and beyond offensive. If you think the law applies only to foreigners, you are mistaken. You are now at risk of disappearing forever at the whim of the ruling junta.

This is also a Congress that has voted in a $20 million "victory celebration" for a tragic war we started, while cutting head injury research that will be key to treating the vast numbers of soldiers returning home alive - but in horrific shape. A must-see for better understanding why we're in Iraq is on the new DVD: IRAQ FOR SALE. It is a sickening tale of greed and abuse.

To chronicle the culture of corruption that has resulted in indictments for a long list of Republicans, not to mention the ongoing cover-up of the the La Cage aux Foley scandal, the most complete and comprehensive chart of the lies and deception that led to the tragic, unnecessary Iraq war is now online. Check out this brilliant, concise timeline called "Lie by Lie." Further evidence of the chill that has resulted in the last six years, the United States now ranks 53rd in the world for "freedom of the press."

Now, we also learn of the deep disgust this administration views the evangelical Christians that they have manipulated for their own means for decades. David Kuo's scathing new book, Tempting Faith, exposes the hypocrisy of the self-titled "Pastor in Chief."

BEING THERE: I am frequently accused of being harsh on Dubya. My disdain is palpable, but I've actually had a recent revelation about our prez. He is, quite simply, a real life Chance the Gardner- the lead character of Jerzy Kosinski's brilliant book Being There and the equally brilliant film starring Peter Sellers. The Gardner character is a near-retarded, life-long sheltered man who is suddenly thrust into the real world. In a series of events, within days, he is being hailed as the next great presidential candidate. If you're not familiar with the book/film, here is a synopsis and a list of memorable quotes.

If you disagree, then I urge you to vote to keep your current representatives in power. Do it while you're still able to express yourself freely.

PR 101:
We are asked frequently about offering basic media and public relations guidelines for many of our readers interesting in pursuing it as a career. It's something that I've sketched out - and it will appear in some form sooner or later. Probably later.
BUT - we can offer a few gems here and there.

Never use "weasel words," but more importantly, always be credible. fingerprint inc. doesn't sell widgets- we rely exclusively on our credibility and professionalism. As an example of how NOT to do it, don't follow Wal-Mart's guide of using a FAKE BLOG to present a faux-homey sense of RV-driven Americana. You may be able to fool people or get away with bullshit for a brief time, but sooner or later, deception will do you in.
